19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard courts
A revitalized Medvedev won his first trophy for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.
The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has had a difficult season, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.
The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in especial - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-time trainer Cervara.
Now training with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Moutet.
It is Medvedev's initial title after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt after March of the previous year.
Victory also signifies Medvedev has secured twenty-one titles at twenty-one various tournaments.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my both daughters together, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," commented ranked player the champion.
"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had lost his previous six championship matches, including in the German tournament in the past months.
Medvedev's retrieving approach and regular outbursts on the playing surface had led observers to doubt if his ability to play at the top level was finished.
Yet the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and compete aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serve.
He recovered from a break down in the first set against the tricky Moutet, securing four of the last five games to take the lead.
The pair swapped service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his first tour title, took control to create a third set.
The opponent rescued four early chances in a close final set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to close out the victory.
Fittingly, he earned the title with a point at the net area, with Moutet unable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
